When you enquire about a custom design, we’ll work closely with you to bring your vision to life, creating detailed design drawings to help you visualise your bespoke piece.
The Materials
We use high-quality, sustainably sourced Timber, prioritising English hardwoods wherever possible and premium, hand made fixtures to ensure a durable, eco-friendly finish of the highest standard.
The Fitting
If your design is built to fit a specific space, it will be expertly hand-fitted on site. We make precise adjustments during installation to ensure a perfect fit
About Tom: Crafting Excellence from the Heart of Dorset
Tom was born and raised in the countryside of Dorset, where his deep connection to the land first took root. Over the years, that connection has grown into a lifelong passion for sustainable craftsmanship and working with locally sourced English timber.
With formal training in architectural joinery and furniture making, achieving Levels 1, 2, and 3 Diploma and NVQ, Tom built a strong foundation in traditional woodworking techniques. He then spent eight years as a bespoke joiner for a leading high-end shepherd’s hut company, where he refined his skills, attention to detail, and appreciation for beautifully crafted, functional design.
Now working independently, Tom brings together years of experience, local knowledge, and strong relationships within the English timber industry to create premium, handcrafted products. Every piece reflects not only expert craftsmanship but a respect for the materials and the landscape they come from.
From custom furniture to unique timber features, Tom’s work is a celebration of Dorset’s natural heritage: built to last, built with purpose, and built close to home.
About Finch
Like any good supervisor, he can usually be found napping in the sun or stealthily hoovering up snacks. However he does hold a very important position here at Dorset Dovetails. As Head of Customer Relations (self-appointed), he ensures everyone gets a warm welcome. especially if they smell like biscuits. He also keeps a keen eye on productivity and head of security. One very important pooch!
